History of Moscow: Capital to host the exhibition of the architectural photographer Naum Granovsky
A retrospective exhibition of the architectural photographer Naum Granovsky marking his 110th anniversary will run at the Lumiere Brothers Centre for Photography (Moscow) until October 31, 2020.
The new exhibition "Moscow of Naum Granovsky. 1920-1980" is a large retrospective project bringing together famous photographs of old Moscow of the 1920s and the Stalinist period, as well as lesser-known works created by Granovsky during the epoch of Soviet modernism. The exposition features more than a hundred author's pictures, which show the changes in the capital and development of the Soviet architecture within sixty years. It allows not only to remember the forgotten pages in the city's history but also to recognise the endangered architecture of the present.
The exhibition is located in two halls of the Centre for Photography: the first project's part includes original author's prints from the collection of the Lumiere Brothers Gallery, the second part features photographs of the Soviet modernism architecture of the 1950s - 80s, showcased for the first time.
