Internet and museums: Moscow museums host online events

Museums in the Metropolitan Department of Culture continue to host online events for citizens. From 26 to 30 October on their websites and official YouTube channels, Muscovites will have new educational lectures, online exhibitions and a virtual tour. One can join most of the events free of charge and without prior registration.

Cinema lovers are welcome to visit the website and YouTube channel at the Gogol House on October 28 at 15:00. As part of the lecture series, Museum Researcher Alexander Shamarin will tell why Duel under the Sun nearly ended the career of the successful American screenwriter and producer David Selznick, creator of the films Gone With the Wind, Rebecca and King Kong.

October 29 at 16:00 the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve invites everyone to visit a thematic video tour of its territory. During a virtual walk in the company of a guide, participants will examine the architectural monuments of the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve. The event will take place on the Zoom platform. Tickets for it can be purchased on the museum's website.

On the same day, October 29, at 19:00 on the YouTube channel of the Museum of Moscow, a lecture entitled “Conversation with a Moscow expert. The Kuzminki Estate" will take place. Subscribers will be told about the origin of the names of the area in the south-east of the capital, for example, such as "Melnitsa", "Vlakhernskoye", "Kuzminki". They will also show photographs of paintings by the Austrian landscape painter Johann Rauch, who loved to paint the Kuzminki estate and its surroundings.

October 30, the Museum of K. G. Paustovsky will present its online exhibition "Dear Brother", on the eve of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Bunin. The guests will learn about the role of Ivan Alekseevich in the literary development of Paustovsky and will see letters, manuscripts, diaries, book publications and photographs telling about the creative connection between the two classics. The virtual exhibition will be available on the museum's website.

Parks, libraries, cultural centers and other institutions regularly offer online programs of events to the attention of citizens. More than 500 exhibitions are now available on the Museum Moscow Online portal. The virtual collection of the website has been added with new expositions of the House-Museum of Marina Tsvetaeva, the Museum of Moscow, the Museum of Fashion, the Eldar Cinema Club, the Multimedia Art Museum and other venues. The five hundredth was the online exhibition of the Moscow Zoo, timed to coincide with the 155th anniversary of the birth of the famous ornithologist Dmitry Rossinsky.
