Society and Culture: "From Shishkin to Kandinsky" exhibition presented in Smolensk

23 November 2020

The Smolensk Museum-Reserve opened the exhibition "From Shishkin to Kandinsky". It is timed to coincide with the centenary of the Art Gallery, which marks in 2020. The exposition features artworks of various movements of Russian art - from realism to the daring vant-garde experiments.

The exhibition consists only of graphic works, which makes it unique. Works on paper are fragile, sensitive to light and rarely showcased. Many pictures have not left the depository for decades and never been exhibited in such compositions before. This exhibition may be a significant cultural event in the city life, because the works of Kiprensky, Shishkin, Repin, Polenov, Serov, Aivazovsky make the golden collection of the Smolensk Museum-Reserve.

The exhibition will run until March 31, 2021.
