Information Technologies and Libraries: Nikolai Nekrasov Library digitized more than 11 thousand postcards

The website of the electronic library "Elektronekrasovka" released the "Postcards Collection" of the department of rare editions and collections of the Nikolai Nekrasov Library. It features already 11,223 items.

The library's department of rare editions contains a total of 250 thousand artefacts of small graphics. Previously, "Elektrorasovka" has released some of them in the "Graphic Arts" section. There are not only postcards but also industrial graphics (stickers, packaging, wrappers, leaflets), posters, photographs, book signs (bookplates, labels, seals and stamps), Russian and foreign match labels.

The postcards collection includes the following sections:

- Reproductions of the XIX-XX centuries: copies of famous paintings, sets with children's fairy tales and art collections of Russian museums, folk art, historical painting and illustrations;

- Photo postcards: images of theatre, ballet and film actors; documentary sets with photographs of famous writers, politicians and astronauts;

- Landscape postcards: photographic postcards with urban and natural landscapes of the late XIX - early XX centuries;

- Satirical postcards: postcards with a humorous and satirical pictures;

- Greeting postcards: cards of different years and reasons - from March 8 to New Year.

There are also rare postcards (for example, signed by the architect Shekhtel's wife), numerous views of Moscow and Russian cities, animals and flowers, portraits of politicians, literary plots, art collections of museums from around the world, film postcards and other pictures devoted to different topics and holidays.
