2 February 2021

February 2 marks the Day of Military Honour - the 78th anniversary of the victory in the great battle on the Volga. The "Battle of Stalingrad" Museum-Reserve celebrates this significant date with many exciting events.

The Panorama Museum launches a new exhibition "In the Stalingrad Trenches". Its exposition tells the way the front-line writers described the battle on the Volga and the fate of its heroes.

The key event on February 2 will be the unveiling of the restored monument "Tank T-34. Chelyabinsk Kolhoznik". It is a cultural heritage of federal significance. The ceremony will take place on the northwestern slope of the Mamayev Kurgan - the historical site where troops of the 21st and 62nd armies of the Don Front united on January 26, 1943. This tank of the 121st tank brigade was one of the first to arrive here. The festive program also includes a demonstration of the exhibition "Tank T-34. No. 18. Chelyabinsk Kolhoznik", devoted to the history of the tank column formation, the glorious combat way of tank No. 18 and fates of its crew.

"Soldier's Camp" will work on the square in front of the central entrance to the "Battle of Stalingrad" Museum on this festive day. The city performers will give a thematic concert.

Another important event will be the awarding of the finalists of the All-Russian Contest "Teacher of the Year in Russia" in the Triumphal Hall of the Panorama Museum.

Besides, many online events will be available on the institution's pages in social networks. So, the Panorama Museum will broadcast classes "The Battle of Stalingrad: History Lesson", "Hero City Stalingrad-Volgograd", a quiz based on the exhibition "In the Trenches of Stalingrad". The Memorial Historical Museum will provide a tour on the history of the museum building during the Great Patriotic War and the Battle of Stalingrad, an event on the interactive exhibition "Spring in Stalingrad". The "Memory" Museum will give access to a concert "Songs of the War Years" by the children's ensemble of the "Rodina" club and much more.
