The exhibition "At the Russian Imperial Court. Costume of the Mid-XIX - Early XX Centuries in the Hermitage Collection" will be launched on March 18, 2021, at the State Historical Museum in Moscow.

The project opens a series of anniversary exhibitions devoted to the 150th anniversary of the State Historical Museum, widely celebrated in 2022. For the first time in 15 years, the State Hermitage Museum displays its collections in Moscow.

The exposition represents the ceremonial and everyday life of the Russian Court - one of the most magnificent royal courts in Europe. It features pieces of fine art and graphics, archival documents, weapons, items of precious metals. However, the main exhibits are costumes and accessories that highlight the memorial character of the exposition. The State Hermitage Museum showcases the clothes and private belongings of Russian emperors and empresses, imperial family, aristocrats, waiting ladies and gentlemen, servants of the Imperial Court of the last Romanovs.

The collection of the imperial court costumes of the mid-XIX - early XX centuries from Saint-Petersburg revive the atmosphere of official ceremonies and church holidays, masquerades and balls in the halls of the State Historical Museum.
