17 March 2021

The Vladimir Dal State Museum of the History of Russian Literature launched a new department - the Museum of the History of XX Сentury Literature. The exposition is open at the central museum building on Zubovsky Boulevard in Moscow.

The first exhibition of the new museum is entitled "Mandelstam Street: Osip and Nadezhda". Its concept was developed by the Vladimir Dal State Museum of the History of Russian Literature in cooperation with the Mandelstam Centre of the Higher School of Economics. The project became the winner of the second contest for museum and exhibition grants of the Russian Jewish Congress.

The exposition consists of three parts: the poet's room, Nadezhda Mandelstam's room and the lobby, decorated with posters and advertisements of the 1900s – 1930s. Specialists restored 11 archival audio recordings from the collection of the Vladimir Dal State Museum of the History of Russian Literature, especially for the exhibition. Some recordings of Mandelstam's voice will be released for the first time. The visitor may listen to them by picking up the phone in the poet's room.
