
Science and Society: Government of the Russian Federation to establish the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development
Russian President Vladimir Putin entrusted the Presidential Council for Science and Education to develop the strategic goals and objectives of the scientific and technological development of Russia. He also instructed the creation of a Commission for Scientific and Technological Development under the Government.
The corresponding presidential decree "On Measures to Improve the Efficiency of the State Scientific and Technical Policy" is available on the legal information portal.
According to it, the government commission will be a permanent body, which includes representatives of the Security Council, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, the Ministers of Finance, Industry and Trade, Health, Agriculture, and the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media.
The Commission for Technological Development will provide the Presidential Council for Science and Education with information on the development of the main directions of the state scientific and technical policy, the most important innovative projects of national importance. The annual report should be made before September 1.

The decree highlights that the prior goal of the Government is the implementation of projects and programs approved by the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development.
The decree was put in force on March 15.
