Libraries and Society: XI All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Library Collections in the Digital Age: Traditional and Electronic Resources, Formation, Use" to hold in Saint-Petersburg

On March 30, 2021, the XI All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference "Library Collections in the Digital Age: Traditional and Electronic Resources, Formation, Use" starts its work in the intramural and distant formats at the New Building of the National Library of Russia (Saint-Petersburg).

The conference is one of the largest platforms in the Russian Federation for discussing key issues of library science.

More than 500 leading experts from 25 regions of Russia, near and far abroad countries, representatives of national and federal libraries and institutions participate in the conference.

This year, it is planned to discuss the future of the book world in the new post-COVID reality and experience gained by libraries during the lockdown and pandemic. Also, the audience will learn about innovations of recent months in the organization of library activities: the merger of the Russian Book Chamber and the Russian State Library and new initiatives that provide the regular updating of the copyright deposit legislation.

A separate session will highlight the 225th anniversary of the establishment of the National Library of Russia / Imperial Public Library, celebrated last year. There will be released rare and valuable library collections, as well as projects aimed at their presentation in the digital environment.

The channel of the National Library of Russia will provide all online broadcasts.

The conference will run until April 2.
