World Culture: Exhibition of Western European graphic art of the XV-XVII centuries "Dedication to Dürer" to open in Khabarovsk

9 April 2021

May 2021 marks the 550th anniversary of Albrecht Dürer, July - the 415th anniversary of Rembrandt. Celebrating these memorable dates, the Far Eastern Art Museum (Khabarovsk) opens an exhibition of Western European graphic art of the XV-XVII centuries "Dedication to Dürer". The ceremony will be held on April 9, 2021. The exposition will spotlight the flowering of European graphic art and its various techniques (woodcut printing, calligraphic etching, etc.).

The exhibition features 32 graphic works by Italian, Flemish, Dutch, German and French masters, including masterpieces of Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), the great German artist and the best representative of the German Renaissance. As a person of his time, he was inspired by the ideas of humanism, which he tried to translate with his works.

The exhibited prints show various techniques and national schools. Also, most of them illustrate the bridging phase between the humanistic ideal of Albrecht Dürer's "positive person" and the concept of the imperfect but beautiful person of Rembrandt van Rijn.

The exhibition will run until May 11, 2021.
