Internet and history: Digital resource "Vladimir Stairs to the Stars" marking the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space

The Vladimir Regional Universal Scientific Library has opened access to a new digital resource "Vladimir Stairs to the Stars", which was timed to the 60th anniversary of the first manned flight into space. Vladimir Region left its mark in the Russian history of space exploration thanks to the contribution of scientists and cosmonauts - natives of the region, as well as local enterprises, which were not discussed for a long time due to their secrecy. Work on the defence and space power of the entire country continues to this day. A huge amount of information related to this topic has been systematized and published on the new website.

The resource includes five sections that contain materials about scientists and testers who became the forerunners of space exploration; about the cosmonauts who visited Vladimir Region; about the enterprises of Vladimir Region producing products for the rocket and space industry; about inventions of the natives of the region; about the people of Vladimir who had a chance to visit and work at the country's cosmodromes. Not only biographical materials, detailed information about enterprises, but also rare photographs, documents, unique sound recordings, patents are presented and systematized.

The materials from the collections of the Vladimir Regional Library, as well as information from open sources, have been used preparing the project. Work on the project will continue.
