Memorable Dates of Russia: Moscow to host the museum and exhibition project "Georgy Zhukov. Time of Power and Forgotten Reforms", marking the 125th anniversary of Marshal

25 May 2021

On May 25, 2021, the Military Uniform Museum (Moscow) will launch a museum and exhibition project "Georgy Zhukov. Time of Power and Forgotten Reforms", devoted to the 125th anniversary of Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, Marshal of the Soviet Union.

The study and judgment of the historical and political processes of Russian history in the middle of the XX century are impossible without a clear recognition of the role of Georgy Zhukov. The pre-war events and the Great Patriotic War, associated with the commander, are widely described. The post-war activities, the years of "disgrace", the return to power, relevant and subsequent events are no less exciting.

The exhibition spotlights Georgy Zhukov's activities as the Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union in 1955-1957. It focuses on the now-forgotten reforms of military uniforms. Their detailed "museum" description will be available for the first time. The exposition features items from collections of the Central Museum of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Victory Museum, the Grekov Studio of War Artists, the Russian State Library of Arts and private collections of Sergei Korolyov, Alexei Stepanov, Sergei Zorin, Kirill Tsyplenkov and Maxim Malinovsky.

The exposition comprises the Soviet Army uniforms and equipment of the mid-1950s, projects and single copies of unique pieces of experimental clothing, documents, private things, photographs and videos.

The project will include thematic excursions and lectures. It will run until September 5, 2021.
