Society and Culture: Exhibition “Brothers of Feelings and Quill... (Sergei Yesenin and Poets of the Silver Age)" presented in Ryazan Region

The exhibition hall of the Sergei Yesenin State Museum-Reserve (Ryazan Region) hosts the exhibition “Brothers of Feelings and Quill... (Sergei Yesenin and Poets of the Silver Age)". It will run until August 29, 2021.

The exposition features memorial things of writers of the late XIX - early XX centuries, poems about Russia, pictures of Petrograd in the early XX century and Yesenin's environment.

The exhibition includes items related to the life and oeuvre of Sergei Yesenin and poets of the Silver Age, who inspired the Ryazan lyricist. There are exhibits related to Alexander Blok, one of the representatives of the symbolism of Russian literature. The showcase presents photographs of the poet, books by various publishers and lifetime publication in the Rech' newspaper. The exposition presents letters by Alexander Blok to young Yesenin, issues of the Birzhevye Vedomosti newspaper with joint publications, Skify almanack.

One of the exhibition sections is devoted to Sergei Yesenin's speeches at literary evenings. It includes photographs of Zinaida Gippius and Dmitry Merezhkovsky, the first review of Yesenin's work entitled Earth and Stone in the Golos Zhizny (Voice of Life) magazine, published by Gippius under a pseudonym Roman Arensky.

The exposition also contains Sergei Gorodetsky's lifetime editions of Yar’, and Fourteenth Year, photographs of different times, poet's cigarette holder and essays of 1911, as well as Yesenin's books with donative inscriptions to Gorodetsky.

The exhibits of particular interest are manuscripts, collections of poems, photographs of Russian singers (A. V. Shiryaevtsa, P. A. Radimov, P. V. Oreshin, S. A. Klychkov and A. A. Ganin), items of peasants' everyday life, reflected in the writers' oeuvre.

Visitors may see objects associated with "futurism". The leading figure of this literary movement was Vladimir Mayakovsky, whose private belongings represent the poet's image.

There are also fascinating exhibits spotlighting events and places that unite representatives of the Silver Age, picturesque and graphic images of Saint-Petersburg, portraits of famous lyricists and paintings conveying the poetic ideas of writers.
