Marking the 30th anniversary of the National Flag of the Russian Federation: Exhibition "Symbols of the Russian State" presented in Moscow
Marking the 30th anniversary of the National Flag of the Russian Federation, the Center for Legal and Business Information of the Russian State Library (Moscow) launched the exhibition "Symbols of the Russian State". It will run until September 30, 2021.
State symbols are mandatory attributes of any state. They reflect the history and culture of the whole nation.
On August 22, 1991, the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR decided to consider the white, blue and red tricolour the official national flag of the Russian Federation. In 1994, the Executive Order of the President of Russia established the Day of the National Flag of the Russian Federation.
On December 25, 2000, the President of Russia signed three Federal Constitutional Laws: "On the National Flag", "On the National Coat of Arms", "On the National Anthem". They formally established the Russian state symbols, defining the legal status and ways of the use of the state symbols of Russia.
Each of the symbols of state power has its centuries-old history. The Russian flag found its origin in the Russian fleet. The white, blue and red tricolour has been a symbol of Russia since the XVII century.
The exposition features original documents from the collections of the Official and Normative Publications Department of the Russian State Library. They introduce visitors to historical acts and current legislation. The exhibition tells about the changes in the state symbols depending on the current political situation in the country: major historical events, development of the state system and even on the personal preferences of new leaders.
