Memorable Dates of Russia: Exhibition "I Love Music...", devoted to the 160th anniversary of the composer Arensky, presented in Veliky Novgorod

The reading room of the Novgorod Regional Library hosts an exhibition "I Love Music..." devoted to the 160th anniversary of the composer, pianist, conductor and public figure Anthony Arensky. It will run until October 31, 2021. Arensky was born in Novgorod on July 30 (August 12), 1861. The exposition features books, music collections, periodicals, photographs, copies of documents from the collections of the Regional Scientific Library, the People's Museum of A. S. Arensky, A. K. Lyadov, S. V. Rachmaninov and Rachmaninov Novgorod Regional College of Arts.

Anthony Arensky is one of the most brilliant musical representatives of the "Silver Age", composer, teacher and pianist. He was born and spent his childhood in Novgorod. He studied at the Novgorod Alexander I Boys' Classical Gymnasium. Then, he graduated from the Saint-Petersburg Conservatory, taught at the Moscow Conservatory, was the director of the Court Chapel. His works are familiar to those who study music from childhood. The Children's Music School in Veliky Novgorod and the Novgorod Philharmonic are named after Anthony Arensky.
