Museums and Society: Exhibition project "Pre-war Peterhof" presented
The "Pre-war Peterhof" exhibition project, devoted to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, is available in the Lower Park of Peterhof (the territory of the Merchant Harbor).
The banner exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve and Academic Gymnasium No. 56. It allows recognizing pre-war Peterhof as a place for mass celebrations and festivals, children's recreation and military sports events. The main heroes of the exhibition were the visitors of the Lower Park of 1936-1941 - adults and children who rested in Peterhof and took pictures from the photographers of the Incooprabis Artel. The exposition features more than 50 photographs from Vladimir Elkin's private collection, archives by Anna Sivets and Pavel Petrov, the collections of the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve.
As part of the project, students of Academic Gymnasium No. 56 prepared an interview with Vladimir Elkin, who provided most of the photographs at the exhibition. He is a collector and a member of the Union of Philokartists of Russia and the Saint-Petersburg Club of Lovers of the History of Postcards.
