The Moscow government allocated a subsidy to the Sretensky Monastery for the restoration of unique frescoes of the early XVIII century.

The stone cathedral of the Sretensky Monastery is a federal cultural heritage site. Its address is Moscow, 19 Bolshaya Lubyanka St., building 1. The cathedral was constructed in 1679 on the site of a wooden church of 1397.

Later, the cathedral acquired new arched porches from the north, south and west. In 1706, there was built a southern side-altar devoted to the Nativity of John the Baptist. At the same time, the open western porch of the temple was turned into a parvis.
