Libraries and Society: International Conference "Library Science in the XXI Century: Content, Organization, Digitalization and Scientometrics" to hold in Moscow

The Russian State Library, the National Library of Russia and the Russian Library Association will hold the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Library Science in the XXI Century: Content, Organization, Digitalization and Scientometrics". It will take place on October 19-20, 2021, at the Russian State Library, as part of the Year of Science and Technology. The conference includes online and offline events.

The conference aims to update the topic and define factors that stimulate the study of the library sphere, discuss issues of organizing and estimating the effectiveness of library science and exchange innovative experiences in the digitalization of scientific activities.

Issues for discussion:

- The role and importance of science in the implementation of state library policy.

- Scientific activity in the library: Regulatory requirements and forms of organization.

- Library as a subject of research and development and an object of study.

- Priority issues of library science, bibliography and bibliological research.

- Scientific publishing activities of libraries: Traditions and innovations.

- The place of professional library periodicals in modern scientific communication.

- Modern methods of estimating scientific activity.

- Digital technology in library science: Implementation problems and application prospects.

- Training of highly qualified personnel: Problems and prospects.

The conference invites heads of libraries and their deputies for scientific (scientific and methodological) work; administrators and employees of scientific and methodological departments of libraries; representatives of state authorities and public organizations, cultural universities, other educational institutions, scientific organizations, publishing houses and professional media.

The conference is held in-person and online. The conference program comprises a seminar on working with scientometric systems and a master class on preparing articles for publication in a scientific magazine.
