24 September 2021

On September 24, 2021, the Yekaterinburg Museum and Exhibition Centre "House of the Poklevsky-Kozells Family'' will launch a unique exhibition "Royal Games", devoted to the armour and weapons of the XVI century.

The exhibition represents Western European weapons and armours of the late Renaissance period from the collections of the State Historical Museum.

Exhibition guests will see samples of weapons created by individual order by the court gunsmiths of the Habsburg imperial family, workshops by Western European princes, craftsmen of the largest art and craft centres of the late Renaissance.

The exhibits that deserve special attention are the armour of one of the representatives of noble European houses, a two-handed sword of a Landsknecht - a weapon of the best infantry in Europe of the XVI century, and a piece of a horse's head protective armour - a chanfron.

The exhibition shows armour and weapons as an important element of the royal ceremonial practices of European rulers of the modern era.

The "Royal Games" project was previously presented at the State Historical Museum, showcased at the Tula State Museum of Weapons and the Kazan Kremlin.

The project is part of the festive program that marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Onesime Clerc Sverdlovsk Regional Local History Museum.

The exhibition will run until February 13, 2022.
