Information Technology and Society: New research centre for Artificial Intelligence to appear in St. Petersburg

ITMO University will receive 1.2 billion rubles for the opening of the "Strong Artificial Intelligence in Industry" Research Centre as part of the Artificial Intelligence federal project.

Artificial intelligence technology has already become a part of our life. The more sophisticated production process requires new solutions. The industry is one of those areas where the use of artificial intelligence is essential. St. Petersburg is an industrial city, and the opening of such a research centre is crucial for us", said Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg. He stressed that the development of the centre would improve the efficiency of many industries. Among other things, artificial intelligence will determine personnel policy, structural and functional changes.

The industry plans to use products created using artificial intelligence in the development and operation of oil and gas fields. Artificial intelligence will design marine objects and structures on the Arctic shelf, considering the severe climatic and geographical conditions.
