Society and Culture: Conference "Neradovsky Readings: Storage, Research, Conservation of Museum Items and Collections" to hold at the State Russian Museum

On April 25-29, 2022, the Russian Museum will host the conference "Neradovsky Readings: Storage, Research, Conservation of Museum Items and Collections. History, Current State and Development Prospects. Marking the Centenary of the Conservation Service of the State Russian Museum (1922–2022)”.

It is the eighth conference in honour of Pyotr Neradovsky (1875-1962), an outstanding museum specialist, whose fate for a long time was inextricably connected with the State Russian Museum. The current conference will mark a significant event in museum life - the centenary of the Conservation Service.

The conference invites heads and employees of art museums of the Russian Federation - museum curators, specialists of state registration services of museum items, art restorers, climatologists, chemists, biologists, technologists and other specialists who ensure the preservation of cultural heritage.

The reports of the conference participants in 2022 should correspond to the following thematic sections:

- Museum conservation of works of art: traditions and modern approach;

- High-tech techniques and methods of modern science in museum practice: Climatology, light environment, chemical and biological research;

- Registration and storage of museum items and collections in an art museum: Past, present and future;

- History and theory of storage and conservation activities in an art museum: Research and memories, events and fates.

The conference program includes discussions, round tables, an exhibition area, and a visit to the restoration workshops of the State Russian Museum.
