Memorable Dates of Russia: Exhibition "We Will Remember that Severe Autumn...", marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow and parade on Red Square, presented in the Russian capital

7 November 2021

The exhibition "We Will Remember that Severe Autumn...", marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow, will run in the Main Building of the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow) until November 14, 2021.

The exhibition showcases paintings dedicated to one of the most tragic and heroic pages of military history.

The severe autumn of 1941 featured the Nazi offensive near the Moscow borders, an extreme resistance of the Red Army and the People's Militia. The presented works reveal the feat of twenty-eight Panfilov soldiers (I. A. Radimov. December 5, 1941. Panfilov Soldiers), the legendary parade on November 7 and the joy of the first counter-offensive, which started on December 5, 1941 (P. A. Krivonogov. Entry into Volokolamsk).

In the "snow-white fields near Moscow" the USSR won its first strategic victory, which led to the collapse of the Barbarossa plan and the Typhoon operation (N. P. Razhin. War Trophies near Volokolamsk). The enemy had to withdraw at the near approaches to the capital. Then followed a difficult way to the "enemy gates" (P. A. Krivonogov. Brandenburg Gate, R. G. Gorelov. Berlin. May 1945). Not all of the Moscow defenders could survive until the festive fireworks of 1945 on Red Square (V. F. Shtranikh. Victory Day), but they deserved the eternal gratitude of their descendants for their feat.
