IT and history: A virtual route through places associated with the history of the Southern Urals during the Great Patriotic War to be presented in Chelyabinsk Region

Chelyabinsk Region will develop a virtual route to places associated with the history of the Southern Urals during the Great Patriotic War.

“In the project, we want to combine monuments and symbols of history with thematic virtual routes. The creation of such routes will help the residents of the region and its guests to walk along them virtually”, - said Igor Belekhov, Director General of the Ural-Siberian House of Knowledge.

Four routes will be formed on the territory of Chelyabinsk Region. To collect data, the participants and organizers of the project examined more than 250 monuments and memorial sites dedicated to the military and labor deeds of the South Urals residents during the Great Patriotic War.

“In the course of the expedition, photographs and measurements of geolocation were carried out for each object, information and historical references, personal information about warriors-fellow countrymen were updated, an examination of the preservation of memorial signs, monuments and obelisks was carried out. The number of objects on the narodnayapamyat.rf portal has increased to 1800”, - the regional press service said.

The project participants also intend to create more than sixty 3D panoramas of monuments. Virtual copies will be posted on the portal and available to visitors.
