On December 1, the Sergei Prokofiev Museum (a branch of the Russian National Music Museum) and the Union of Composers of Russia launched a joint exhibition project "Being a Composer... Idea. Experiment. Invention". The exposition spotlights the most unusual musical ideas of the XX and XXI centuries.

Visitors will see extraordinary sheet music: compositions written in the form of constellations and spirals. Some of them consist only of pauses or have no notes at all. The exhibition also provides sheet music of different scales, including a small sheet of paper (3x5 centimetres) and a roll 32 meters long, notes written on glass covered with black mastic.

The exposition includes creations by contemporary composers: Yuri Kasparov, Vladimir Tarnopolsky, Faraj Karaev, Viktor Yekimovsky, Sergei Zagniya, Nikolai Khrust, Yaroslav Sudzilovsky, Olga Bochikhina, Vladimir Gorlinsky, Aleksey Syumak, Kirill Shirokov, Yegor Savelyanov, Vladimir Genin, Daria Marayeva.

It also promotes exhibits from the Russian National Music Museum: posters of different years, photographs, autographs of composers, letters, musical instruments. The exhibition presents a video installation by composer and video artist Alexey Nadzharov.
