Memorable Dates of Russia: Victory Museum launched a new exhibition "Battle of Moscow. First Victory!" marking the 80th anniversary of the battle

On December 9, 2021, the Exhibition Gallery of the Victory Museum (the 3rd floor, area of 1200 square meters) launched a new exhibition "Battle of Moscow. First Victory!" marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Moscow in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The exposition in nine thematic sections with historical accuracy recreates decorations of military locations and events. Vivid artistic images and interactive multimedia technology introduce visitors to the fates and heroic deeds of the city defenders - participants in the battle. Interactive museum showcases demonstrate previously unavailable items from the Museum collections: ammunition, weapons and personal belongings of Soviet soldiers and militiamen, military maps, originals of works by Kukryniksy (a group of Soviet artists), issues of the TASS information posters of 1941-1942, and other rarities of that time.

The multimedia projections and information screens of the thematic sections feature a lot of historical materials - memoirs of the participants in the Battle of Moscow, photographs and digital copies of documents and statistical information about the city life in the first months of the war, Soviet military strategy, the course of battles, and the defensive and offensive parts of the battle. The new exhibition "Battle of  Moscow. First Victory!" was created jointly by the Victory Museum, Moscow Department of Culture, the Moscow Defence Museum and the Institute of Military History of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
