Peoples of Russia: Exhibition "Dagestan. Country of Mountains and Skilled Craftsmen" to open in Moscow

The All-Russian Decorative Art Museum (Moscow) and the National Renaissance Non-profit Foundation present the exhibition "Dagestan. Country of Mountains and Skilled Craftsmen". It runs from December 4, 2021, and marks the centenary of the formation of the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

The exhibition features over 150 exhibits: traditional dresses, the best items of applied art, handicrafts and author's metal and wooden works by Dagestan artists, carpets, ceramics, modern products and art techniques, contemporary and naive art, rare photographs and graphic items.

The art of Dagestan is inseparable from the majestic beauty of nature and the wealth of the centuries-old spiritual culture of this region. The presented exhibits reveal the deep concepts of the foundations and rules of life, relationships of the peoples of Dagestan: the dignity of male and female national characters, their hospitality, reverence and respect for elders, the role of family traditions, the warmth and beauty of the hearth.

Dagestan is famous for its crafts. The exposition presents a map with main art centres.

The exhibition will run until January 23, 2022.
