History and Culture: Exhibition devoted to Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita" presented in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk

Marking the 130th anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov, the Literary and Art Museum of Anton Chekhov's Book "Sakhalin Island" (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) and the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum (Moscow) present the exhibition "Your Novel is Read": How Mikhail Bulgakov Became a Famous Writer".

The exhibition tells about the fate of the novel The Master and Margarita, its difficult way to the reader and the recognition of Bulgakov's oeuvre after his death.

The exhibition features items from the Mikhail Bulgakov Museum and the Moscow Art Theatre Museum. It includes the writer's personal belongings from the apartment in Nashchokinskiy Lane, where he created this novel. Visitors will also see materials for the first performance of The Master and Margarita at the Taganka Theatre (directed by Yury Lyubimov), sketches for a graphic novel, unique editions in different languages. They will also have an opportunity to create samizdat (reproduction of censored and underground makeshift publications) - type a fragment of the Master and Margarita on a typewriter.

The exhibition will run until February 27, 2022, at the Literary and Art Museum of Anton Chekhov's Book "Sakhalin Island" in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
