The exposition at the Tula Defence Museum presents about a thousand original wartime items provided by city residents. It marks the 80th anniversary of the city defence.

"The idea of creating the museum belongs to Tula residents. We have the right to call it a people's museum. It creates the atmosphere that allows seeing a complete picture of the events of the Tula defensive operation", said Alexei Dyumin, the Governor of Tula Region.

Exhibits were provided by city residents. The Tula people brought their personal belongings, documents, and wartime letters. The Tulamashzavod (Tula Machinery Plant) donated three pre-war machine tools to the museum. The Tula Arms Plant provided samples of small arms and models of Maxim machine guns. Search teams gave over 150 finds made during excavations.

The exposition tries to recreate the atmosphere of a besieged city fighting the enemy.

Also, the museum presents electronic encyclopedias revealing the history of Tula Region during the war.

Besides, various interactive programs allow the young museum visitors to learn the history of the city defence through play and entertainment.
