Society and Culture: Exhibition "Nicholas Roerich. From the collections of the State Russian Museum" opened in Kazan

An exhibition of works by Nicholas Roerich from the collections of the State Russian Museum was opened in the Contemporary Art Gallery of the State Museum of Fine Arts (Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan).

Nicholas Roerich is one of the most prominent masters of Russian and world painting, thinker, public figure, scientist, traveller, writer.

About 80 societies in Europe, America and Asia are named after him. The artist initiated the world community known as The Roerich Pact - the first treaty on the protection of artistic and scientific institutions and historic monuments. Roerich's call to preserve the continuity of the past, present and future is embodied in his Banner of Peace. The Banner has on the white background three united amaranth spheres as a symbol of unity of peoples and religions.

The exposition at the Contemporary Art Gallery includes more than 70 paintings by Nicholas Roerich from the State Russian Museum, works of art provided by the Tatarian cultural institutions: State Museum of Fine Arts, the National Museum, the Ethnographic Museum of Kazan Federal University and the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of the Kazan Federal University Scientific Library.

The exposition also showcases a thematic multimedia interactive project.

The exhibition will run until March 22, 2022.
