President of Russia: Vladimir Putin signed a Decree on the celebration in 2028 of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the writer Leo Tolstoy

On February 2, 2022 President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a Decree on the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the writer Leo Tolstoy. The document was published on the official portal of legal information.

“Given the outstanding contribution of Leo Tolstoy to national and world culture and in connection with the 200th anniversary of his birth in 2028, I decide: to accept the proposal of the Government of the Russian Federation to celebrate in 2028 the 200th anniversary of the birth of Leo Tolstoy”, - the document says.

The government was instructed to develop and approve a plan of festive events. In addition, an organizing committee to prepare for the celebration should be formed within six months. And the regional and municipal authorities are recommended to take part in the preparation and holding of events dedicated to the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Leo Tolstoy.
