History and Culture: Exhibition “Valor, honor and glory. Warrior’s image in Russian art of XIX-XXI centuries” presented in Moscow

Exhibition “Valor, honor and glory. Warrior’s image in Russian art of XIX-XXI centuries” is presented at the Museum of Military Uniforms (Moscow).

Museum and exhibition project explores the history of the Russian Armed Forces of the last 200 years through the lens of art.

Figurines, table compositions and other items of Russian cabinet sculpture allow guests to imagine the soldiers of Russian armies in different historical periods. Detailed recreation of military uniform and equipment, military attributes and weapons of different troops are particularly interesting.

Exposition displays the gems of the genre – works by E. A. Lansere, V. I. Dyomut-Malinovsky, Paolo Trubetskoy, A. M. Opekushin, I. V. Kovshenkov, and others.

The painting section of the exposition is presented by the works of masters-“grekovtsy” – E. I. Danilevsky, P. V. Ryzhenko, O. A. Avakimyan, N. V. Kolupaev, as well as A. O. Orlovsky, Russian painter and graphic artist, sketcher of new military uniforms of General Staff of Russian Army of XIX Century.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see works of painters of different generations – the older generation, supporting traditions of realism in Russian art, and the younger one – painters of XXI century.

The works of painters and sculptors reflect events of the Great Northern War of 1700-1721, the Battle of Poltava, the Patriotic War of 1812, the Liberation Campaigns of 1813-1814, the conquest of Paris, the Crimean War of 1853-1856, the Siege of Sevastopol, the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The exposition will also feature rare authentic items of uniforms of Russian army of XIX century, never before seen by the public.

The exhibition will run until August 14, 2022.
