IT and Museums: The State Hermitage Museum presents a series of podcasts “Dialogue of Arts”

The State Hermitage Museum presents a series of podcasts “Dialogue of Arts”. Every two weeks, the specialists of the museum from the special programs department will release new episodes, dedicated to the history of art and culture. Art historians, museum curators and restorers will be the authors and hosts of the podcasts.

Three episodes are already available for the users of popular streaming services and subscribers of the Hermitage Museum’s official group in VKontakte and of its Telegram channel. In the first episode “How Hermitage preserves pieces of art”, art critic Ludmila Torshina tells about the storage system of art pieces in the Museum, its differences from the world practice, the locations and accessibility of Museum’s collections.

The second episode is dedicated to the topic of “Women-painters of the Impressionism Age: Mary Cassatt”. Art historian Alyona Petrovskaya tells about Mary Cassat, the famous painter, who lived in Paris practically her whole life, participated in the exhibitions of impressionists, was friends with Degas, Renoir and Durand-Ruel.

In the episode “Italian impressions in the works of painters and poets”, Hermitage specialist of West European art Victoria Snegovskaya tells about famous painters and poets, who lived and worked in Italy: their inspirations, memories of Italy and their art pieces.

Every episode of the podcast also features classical music in accordance with its theme or the epoch’s style. The music for the program is presented by “Firma Melodiya”.
