IT and Society: The lite version of the “Discover Moscow” mobile app now available

The lite version of the “Discover Moscow” mobile app has been created for the users of the portal. It is available to download for those, whose smartphones and tablets have low power. For example, the devices with Android operating system that don’t support the ARCore technology which is necessary for the augmented reality feature. The new lite version of the app is specially adapted for such devices.

Before, the owners of past generations’ smartphones could have had problems with loading the content: for example, the photographs or the information about buildings, monuments and museums were loading too slowly.

The updated mobile app of the “Discover Moscow” portal gives an opportunity to create educational routes through the city, discover the history of buildings, streets and districts, learn interesting facts about nearby landmarks, go through fascinating online-quests, explore biographies of famous figures: architects and painters, scientists and writers, military commanders and merchants, who resided in Moscow.

These features are also available for the users of the app’s classical version. The only difference of the lite version is that its users can’t use the AR-feature on their smartphones or tablets.
