Memorable Dates of Russia: The exhibition “Taiga. Arsenyev. Uzala” opens in Vladivostok, marking the 150th anniversary of V. K. Arsenyev, Russian traveler, writer, explorer of the Far East
On June 24, 2022 the Primorye State Art Gallery (Vladivostok) hosts a grand opening of the exhibition Taiga. Arsenyev. Uzala in the Main Hall, marking the 150th anniversary of Russian traveler, geographer, ethnographer, writer, explorer of the Far East Vladimir Klavdiyevich Arsenyev (1872-1930) who made a great contribution to the formation of traditions of artistic interpretation of the region.
The project features over a hundred art pieces from the collections of the Primorye State Art Gallery (Vladivostok), the Arsenyev Museum of Far East History (Vladivostok), the Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts, the Bashkir Nesterov Art Museum (Ufa), the Grodekov Khabarovsk Regional Museum, and the branch of the All-Russian Public Organization “The Russian Geographical Society” in Primorye Territory – the Amur Region Exploration Society (Vladivostok).
The images of Vladimir Arsenyev and Dersu Uzala are presented not only in book illustrations and graphics, but also in easel paintings.
The exclusive section of the exposition showcases about thirty pieces created in different genres and art styles by Primorye masters specifically for the project. The works of Primorye artists brightly and deeply explore the theme, often from the unusual point of view. After the exhibition, these paintings will enter the collections of the Art Gallery and will be featured in the big tour of the Gallery to cities and villages of the region. The goal of the tour is to tell Primorye residents about the wonderful life of Vladimir Arsenyev.
The exhibition will run until August 21, 2022.
