Libraries of the World: The biggest innovative library of the region opened in Dubai

The biggest innovative library complex has been opened in the business centre of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai. A massive collection of various compositions is now stored in an ultramodern seven-story building, which the initiators of the project paid 275 million dollars to build, according to the Al Arabia information agency.

The library centre of Dubai features more than a million printed and digital books in Arabic and foreign languages, over 6 million theses, around 73 thousand musical scores, 75 thousand videos, approximately 13 thousand digitalized research papers, and over 5 thousand historical printed and digital regional magazines covering the last 325 years, as well as about 35 thousand printed and digital magazines from the whole world, and around 500 rare collectibles.

On the territory of 54 thousand square meters, a special environment and atmosphere is created for the visitors of different age, social status, occupation, from UAE and other countries of the world.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Library has nine specialized libraries including The General Library, The Emirates Library, The Young Adults Library, The Children’s Library, The Special Collection Library, The Maps and Atlases Library, The Media and Arts Library, The Business Library, and The Periodical Library. In addition to paperback books, the library provides access to a wide range of e-books and other digital media, as well as access to millions of books, information sources and pieces of content from around the world. The Library’s facilities, which use the latest technology and artificial intelligence (AI), include an automated storage and electronic book retrieval system, self-service kiosks, a book digitization laboratory, and smart robots to respond to visitors’ inquiries, in addition to augmented and virtual reality technologies.
