Society and Culture: Historical and literary festival “War and Peace”, timed to coincide with the birthday of L. N. Tolstoy, takes place in Tula Region

On August 27, 2022 the historical and literary festival War and Peace, timed to coincide with the birthday of L. N. Tolstoy (August 28, old style), takes place in the Nikolskoye-Vyazemskoye ancestral estate of the Tolstoy family (Tula Region, Chernsky District, Nikolskoye-Vyazemskoye Village). It is a solemn finale of the Interregional Literary Camping War and Peace, aimed at the preservation and popularization of historical memory of the life and work of great Russian writers – L. N. Tolstoy, I. S. Turgenev, A. A. Fet, as well as the development of modern literary art.

The finale of the interregional literary contest Gold of Russian Literature will take place at the festival. Within its framework, 16 poets and writers from all over Russia will read their works to the public. The program also includes tours around the museum’s territory, master-classes on weaving, fabric painting, making traditional dolls, amulets, ecological tapestries and cards, performances by musicians, a military-historical reconstruction of an event of the Patriotic War of 1812 – the battle for Beshenkovichi village, in which a representative of the Tolstoy family, Count Alexander Ivanovich Ostermann-Tolstoy took part.
