Memory of the World: The exhibition, marking the 80th anniversary of the underground organization “Young Guard”, prepared by the Victory Museum

On September 30, 2022 the exhibition, marking the 80th anniversary since the establishment of the underground organization “Young Guard”, opens in the Victory Museum. The School Museum “Young Guard” of the Moscow School № 1499 took part in the project.

The exposition features about 40 unique exhibits – personal belongings and photographs of the young guards. The relics include the pioneer tie of Lubov Shevtsova, lace embroidered by her,  dress and shoes of the actress Inna Makarova, which she wore in the movie “Young Guard”, where she played the role of Luba. Visitors will have an opportunity to see the gramophone that belonged to the family of Anatoly Popov, umbrella of Alexandra Dubrovina, glasses for motorsport of Ivan Zemnukhov, as well as school supplies of the underground members: geographical map and inkwell of Vladimir Kulikov, physics notebook of Sergei Levashov, algebra textbook of Maya Peglivanova.

The exhibition will run until February 9, 2023.

Within the solemn opening ceremony of the exhibition in the Hall of Glory, the name of the Hero of Russia, Commissar of the Young Guard Victor Tretyakevich will be immortalized. On September 22, 2022 he was awarded the title of the Hero of Russia by order of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

In addition, the large-scale online project of the Victory Museum will be launched. It is planned to be a large collection of historical materials about the young underground. Users will have a chance to learn about the history of organization, biographies of its members, see digitized exhibits from the collections of the Victory Museum, Museum “Young Guard” of the city of Krasnodon, Museum “Young Guard” of the Moscow School № 1499. Materials on the website will be updated regularly.

Also, the Lugansk State Pedagogical University presents the joint project, prepared by the Victory Museum and the Museum “Young Guard” of the Krasnodon Order of Friendship, – mobile exhibition Loyalty to your oath is immortality, dedicated to the feat of the young guards.

The exposition consists of several sections. The first section is dedicated to the school years of the future young guards. The main section tells about the history of combat activity and feats of the heroes. Thanks to the materials, displayed at the exhibition, visitors are able to explore biographies of the young heroes, their portraits. The exposition also features archival photographs of the wartime Krasnodon, flyers created by the underground guards, their letters to relatives, graphic images. Visitors will also the cipher, invented by the young guard, and the handwritten oath of the members of the organization.
