President of Russia: Vladimir Putin supported the idea of creating an international organization for the promotion of the Russian language

At the informal meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States that took place on October 7, 2022 in St. Petersburg, President of Russia Vladimir Putin has supported the idea of creating an international organization for the promotion of the Russian language. Earlier, the initiative to create such organization under the auspices of the CIS was put forward by the leader of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

“We are very grateful to President Tokayev for this. I think this is important for everyone, since the Russian language is the language of interstate communication”, – President of Russia said, opening the meeting. His words are quoted by the information portal of the Izvestiya newspaper.

Year 2023 has been announced the Year of the Russian Language as the Language of Interstate Communication in the CIS. According to Vladimir Putin, the Russian Federation will make every effort to implement the project as soon as possible.
