IT and History: The multimedia exhibition “Peter I. Of immense fortitude…” presented in the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum

The multimedia exhibition Peter I. Of immense fortitude…, marking the 350th anniversary since the birth of Peter the Great, has opened in the Multimedia Centre of the Russian Museum. It is based on the collections of the Russian Museum and monuments of Russian culture in Russia and abroad, associated with the most famous Russian monarch.

At the multimedia exhibition, visitors will have an opportunity to see the beginning of construction of the city of St. Petersburg and the Kronstadt fortress, to take a walk around Nevsky Prospect from the Admiralty to the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, to explore Peterhof that in many ways has surpassed its French ancestor, to go on a virtual trip to the Summer Garden of the Peter’s era, or to Russian and European cities, where the monuments for the Russian emperor are installed. The multimedia exposition will reveal scenes of the Streltsy uprising, Azov campaigns, battles near Krasnaya Gorka and the Battle of Poltava, history of the tsar’s discovery of the conspiracy and his dramatic relations with the oldest son, Tsarevich Alexei, as well as rules established by Peter the Great for the new noble society at the Assemblies.

In addition to multimedia technologies, the exhibition will feature technologies of virtual and augmented reality. By pointing their smartphone cameras at special QR-codes, visitors will be able to see virtual toy soldiers in the uniforms of Peter’s troops and other objects on the screens of their gadgets.
