Society and Culture: Exhibition “Cinema – a Mirror of the Era. Soviet film posters in the history of the Russian Diaspora”

31 October 2022

The exhibition Cinema – a Mirror of the Era, dedicated to Soviet film posters and films, exported by the USSR abroad in the 1920s-1930s, as well as to reviews of the Russian Diaspora on the Soviet motion pictures released worldwide, opens on November 2, 2022 at the Solzhenitsyn House of the Russian Diaspora (Moscow).

The main exhibits will be copies of Soviet film posters of the 1920s-1930s from the collections of the Department of Visual Publications of the Russian State Library and reviews from emigrant media, published in the book of the film and literature historian Rashit Yangirov Chronicles of the Cinematic Life of the Russian Diaspora (released by the Russky Put Publishing House in 2010).

The exhibited copies of Soviet film posters of the 1920s-1930s create the field of intersection of meanings, allow visitors to compare their own experiences of watching the classics with their unbiased (or biased in other ways) assessments, and truly immerse guests in the distant, but actually close era.

The exhibition will run from November 3, 2022 until February 26, 2023.
