
Museums and Society: Conference “Activities of museums on the presentation of the spiritual heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church” opens in Moscow
On November 15-16, 2022, the State Historical Museum and the Sergiev-Posad Museum-Reserve host the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference “Exposition and educational activities of museums on the presentation of the spiritual heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church. Marking the 600th anniversary of the finding of the relics of St. Sergius of Radonezh and the construction of the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius”.
The following topics will be discussed at the conference:
– research and study of monuments of the spiritual heritage and issues of their interpretation in the scientific and exposition activity of museums;
– interpretation of monuments of iconography and other objects of the spiritual heritage of the Russian Orthodox Church in scientific and educational museum projects;
– monuments of the spiritual heritage as objects of museum educational programs and master-classes for various types of visitors;
– the role of St. Sergius of Radonezh and the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius in historical and spiritual fates of Russia: scientific researches and interpretations, forms and methods of presentation in museum scientific and educational work.
Participants of the conference will have an opportunity to explore expositions at the Historical Museum and the Sergiev-Posad History and Art Museum-Reserve. Museum educational programs and master-classes on mentioned topics will be provided for the participants.
Historians, workers of the scientific and educational museum sphere of activity, teachers of educational institutions, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, representatives of public historical and cultural organizations are invited to take part in the event.
