Peoples of the World: Events marking the International Day for Tolerance held in Republic of Daghestan
On November 16, 2022, various events marking the International Day for Tolerance are held in Republic of Daghestan.
The International Day for Tolerance is celebrated annually on November 16. On November 16, 1995 on the day of the 50th anniversary of the organization, UNESCO member states adopted the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance, which states that all people are different, but all are equal in rights and dignity. In the document, tolerance is described as respect, understanding and acceptance of the diversity of cultures, ways of expressing individuality, forms of self-expression.
Tolerance is an attitude formed on the basis of recognition of universal human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Cultural institutions of Republic of Daghestan have prepared various events, timed to coincide with this date.
Thus, the Exhibition Hall “History of the Nizhny Terek Cossacks” (Kizlyar) hosts the event Friends, let’s hold hands.
The library of Oktyabrskoye Village (Khasavyurtovsky District) holds the fellowship hour Tolerance is an answer to extremism. Young readers together with a librarian will make a symbolic “tree of tolerance” by writing qualities required for a tolerant person in each of its leaf. The book exhibition Let’s learn to appreciate each other has been organized as well.
The library of Sovetskoye Village (Khasavyurtovsky District) invites visitors to participate in the fellowship hour We choose tolerance. There is also presented the book exhibition A man is known for good deeds.
