Memorable Dates of Russia: Exhibition “Without the Right to Glory, for the Glory of the State” marking the 100th anniversary of the creation of illegal intelligence opens in St. Petersburg

On December 2, 2022, the exhibition Without the Right to Glory, for the Glory of the State marking the 100th anniversary of the creation of illegal intelligence opens in the branch of the Museum of Political History of Russia “Gorokhovaya, 2”.

The heroes of the exhibition are Soviet illegal intelligence officers of the 1920s-1990s: D. A. Bystrolyotov, P. A. Sedoplatov, N. I. Kuznetsov, W. G. Fisher (R. I. Abel), A. M. Kozlov, and others. The fate of each and one of them was full of dangerous trials and mysteries.

The exhibition tells about the fate of the illegal intelligence officers of the 1920s-1930s, about the people at the origins of illegal intelligence, the role of illegal intelligence in the victory over Nazi Germany, the achievements of special services agents during the Cold War.

The exhibits include personal belongings of illegal intelligence officers, documents and photographs, as well as a collection of special equipment used by workers of special service in the field, which allows to reveal secrets of the intelligence work.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see the script for the film A Man in Plain Clothes written by D. A. Bystrolyotov; the Iron Cross of the 2nd Class – the award of the German officer P. Siebert, under whose name the intelligence officer N. I. Kuznetsov acted; paintings created by W. G. Fisher (R. I. Abel) during his incarceration in an American prison, etc.

Most of the exhibits specially provided by the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation will be shown to visitors for the first time.
