Marking Heroes of the Fatherland Day: Exhibition “Take a Hero as an Example…” presented at the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia
The Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia presents the exhibition Take a Hero as an Example... marking the 15th anniversary of the opening of the museum.
The memorable date of our country – Heroes of the Fatherland Day on December 9 – was first celebrated in 2007. Shortly before that, on December 1, the grand opening of the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia took place in Moscow.
The very existence of the museum became possible thanks to the good will of the heroes, their relatives and friends, who donated their personal belongings and family relics for the museum’s collections. Today, more than four and a half thousand museum items contain evidence not only of the service and work of the heroes, but also of their everyday life.
The exhibition presents photographs of the opening ceremony of the museum in 2007, its first guests and first exhibitions.
Commemorative gifts addressed to the heroes and telegrams with congratulations from the top officials of the states remind us of the high appreciation of the military and labour feat of our compatriots. A separate part of the exposition introduces a little-known side of the life of people awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Russia, namely their hobbies – drawing and photography, hunting and fishing.
The exhibition will run until January 29, 2023.
