
Society and Reading: Novosibirsk Region won the All-Russian Competition “The Most Reading Region” with the project “The Age of Siberian Literature” and became “Russia’s Literary Flagship”
The All-Russian Competition “The Most Reading Region” among the subjects of the Russian Federation for the title of “Russia’s Literary Flagship” is designed to evaluate and encourage the contribution of the regions to the development of literature in the cultural space of the country, their efforts to increase the accessibility of reading for citizens.
This annual competition has been established within the framework of the Year of Literature in Russia. The regions awarded the honorary title of “Russia’s Literary Flagship” are Ulyanovsk Region (2015), Voronezh Region (2016), St. Petersburg (2017), Irkutsk Region (2018), Belgorod Region (2019) Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) (2020), and Arkhangelsk Region (2021).
In 2022, the winner of the All-Russian Competition “The Most Reading Region” is Novosibirsk Region with the project The Age of Siberian Literature, dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Novosibirsk Region and the 100th anniversary of the Russian literary and artistic magazine Sibirskiye ogni. Over a million people have participated in the project, and all thirty districts of Novosibirsk Region have been involved in the program of celebration of the region’s significant dates.
