The interactive exhibition Marshal of the Leningrad Victory Leonid Govorov has opened in the Memorial Museum of the Defence and Siege of Leningrad.

The exhibition features materials from the collection of the Govorov family: personal belongings of L. A. Govorov and copies of several drawings created by Leonid Alexandrovich for his son, Vladimir.

Visitors will have an opportunity to see authentic photographs and documents from the museum’s collections of the eldest son, Vladimir, who fought on the Leningrad Front, of A. M. Mikhailov, adjutant of the Commander of the Leningrad Front, as well as S. M. Bolibruk, the driver of the Govorov family.

Exhibits are complemented by posters of the siege period, drawings by Leningrad artists, artillery supplies, and a copy of the commander’s uniform.

Leonid Alexandrovich Govorov carried out key operations to break the siege (Iskra) and completely liberate the city (Neva-2). As a member of the Military Council of the Leningrad Front, he contributed to the cultural life of the besieged city: on August 9, 1942, he provided the performance of D. D. Shostakovich’s Seventh Symphony; participated in the collection of war trophies, which served as the basis for the famous exhibition Heroic Defence of Leningrad in 1944 and then for the establishment of the Museum of the Defence of Leningrad.
