Memorable Dates of Russia: Exhibition “The Objective World of A. N. Ostrovsky’s Plays”, marking the 200th anniversary of the playwright, opened in Kostroma Region

9 February 2023

The exhibition The Objective World of A. N. Ostrovsky’s Plays has opened in the Ostrovsky Memorial and Nature Museum-Reserve “Shchelykovo” (Kostroma Region). It launches a series of cultural events at the museum, marking the 200th anniversary of the playwright.

The exhibition tells about the fact that the great playwright had everything “working” on the image of the hero, explaining his character and actions. Each item from a character’s replica or author’s remark is not accidental.

Therefore, the main space at the exhibition is devoted to objects from the 19th century, including a blotter, a guéridon, a coin box “miser”, a crucifix for gloves, and much more. Their display at the exhibition allows visitors to travel to the century before last, the time of most of Ostrovsky’s plays.

The exhibition will run until August 28.
