The Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library establishes the network of branches

On October 28 the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library holds the All-Russian Working Conference dedicated to establishment of the Presidential Library’s branches in the subjects of the Russian Federation. The Conference will attract the delegations from 60 regions of Russia: the representatives of the regional authorities, Ministries of Culture and Central regional Libraries. In the framework of the Conference the Agreements on cooperation in creation the branches of the Presidential Libraries will be signed with a number of delegations.

The Presidential Library has established contacts with 45 subjects of the Federation since its foundation 5 months ago. The representatives of the Library had been invited by the Heads of the regions to visit Kazan, Omsk, Tyumen and Ulan-Ude where they carried out working meetings, familiarized themselves with the future stuff and worked out the ways for cooperation.

«Many regions have already carried out a lot of preparatory work: the accommodations provided, the renovation works finished, the equipment and software purchased and installed, the acquisition of electronic resources organized. Now we are going to work out the further steps and framework legal, financial and administrative conditions for cooperation with the regions on setting up the network of branches», - said the Director-General of the Presidential Library A. P. Vershinin.

At the Conference the representatives of regions will make reports on the preparatory works carried out on creation of the Library’s branches, the state of the library science in certain regions. The Heads of the Presidential Library’s departments who oversee the projects of creation and integration of electronic resources, the program-technical solutions for organization of the work of branches will also speak at the Conference.

 «We see that despite any kind of obstacles most regions are ready to cooperate. The Heads of subjects of the Federation understand that the creation of the Presidential Library’s branch means the milestone for the region, a perfect stimulus to its development and integration of the certain area into the information space of Russia», - said the Deputy of Director-General S. M. Makeev.

After the solemn signing of Agreements on the cooperation in creation the branches of the Presidential Library the participants will take part in consultations, discussions and the round table in order to share the experience between the delegations of the regions and specialists of the Library.

This is the first All-Russian Working Conference dedicated to the creation of the Library’s branches. In accordance with the Order of the President of the Russian Federation of June 18 2007 the branches of the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Library will be opened in all the subjects of the Federation.
