History of Russia: «XX century, Ukraine and Russia: history and image of history»

Between October, 28 – 30 2009 the Center of Ukrainian and Belorussian Studies of Moscow Lomonosov State University, the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center of Ukrainian Studies of the Institute of Europe (Russian Academy of Sciences) are holding the Russian-Ukrainian scientific Conference “XX century, Ukraine and Russia: history and image of history.

The following issues will be be discussed at the Conference: 

- The policy of Russia in the beginning of XX century towards Ukraine: controversial aspects.

- The Ukrainian and Russian nationalism in the beginning of XX century.

- The Ukrainian national movement and Russia in the time of Revolution of 1917-1918 and Civil War.

- Stalinism and totalitarianism in the RSFSR (Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic) and USSR (Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic).

- The Ukrainian-Russian contradictions during the Great Patriotic War – the facts and myths.

- The Ukrainians and Russians in the post-war USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics).

- The formation and the evolution of the Ukrainian and Russian national self-consciousness in XX century.

- Ukraine and Russia yesterday and tomorrow (1991-2020): obstacles and the perspectives of cooperation.
