Presidential Library: Round table of the International film festival “The World of Knowledge”

On October, 20 at 3 p.m. in the framework of the IV International Film Festival of popular science films “The World of Knowledge” the Presidential Library is holding the Round table dedicated to the topic “Russia. Image of future”. Among its participants – scientists, experts, cinematographers and students of St.– Petersburg Universities. This event will be broadcasted online on the Library’s portal.

The climax of the festival will be the award of special prize, organized by the Presidential Library to one of the filmmakers – the participants of the film festival. “We are happy to make our contribution to the universal humanitarian values by expressing our opinion on the ways of their popularization. The popular science cinematography needs to keep the common language with the large audience, first and foremost, with the young people”, – remarked A. I. Bukreev, the assistant director-General of the Presidential Library.

The discussion will enable to strengthen the traditions of the International dialogue between scientists and cinematographers, the participants will discuss the ways of modern science, technologies and culture development. Apart from the reports and the discussion the organizers plan to demonstrate the fragments of films, which gained public resonance. Among them: “Russian map” (“Russkaya karta”), “New silk way” (“Noviy sholkoviy put’”), “Time of polar countries ” (“Vremya polyarnih stran”). The host of the event is Oleg Leonidovich Kuznetsov, the famous scientist-geophysicist, the co-chairman of the National Committee “The Intellectual resources of Russia”.

The main mission of the Round table according to the organizers is to strengthen interest to the Russian educational popular science films and attract the attention of scientists and publicity to the urgency of the federal educational TV channel creation.  

The festival’s organizer is the “Lennauchfilm” film studio. The first festival “The World of Knowledge” took place in November 2006 during the IX Eurasian teleforum.
